Andrea L. Nartey
Andrea Dozier Nartey is currently the Executive Director of the Southampton Youth Association: an organization that was instrumental in her childhood and is extremely dear to her heart. The combination of her father’s leadership with the experiences in her career have molded Andrea into the youth advocate that she is today.
SYA has been developing athletic abilities, healthy habits, wellness and leadership of youth from Pre-K to high school and college for 51 years. She is privileged to hold this role and to honor her father's legacy by building on the strong foundation and continuing to serve the community. In her first 2 years, she revamped internal systems, established new partnerships, implemented new programming, established a scholarship fund, and incorporated her familiarity of growing up in Southampton.
Andrea is a passionate leader who has dedicated her career to education reform. Her teaching experience led to a greater understanding of the dire need for schools to establish a high academic demand and intentional social and emotional development. She has supported students and parents by overseeing Special Education programming in addition to resuming Assistant Principal and Principal positions. She is dedicated to helping others reach their highest and healthiest potential.
Andrea grew up in Southampton and completed all of her primary and secondary education there.
She went on to complete her Bachelor's degree from Binghamton University and then completed a dual Masters of Science in General and Special Education from Bank Street College of Education. She is a proud 2016 Council of Urban Professionals Fellow, a leadership program for professionals of color committed to civic engagement.
In addition to her career, one of Andrea’s greatest accomplishments is being a wife and a mother to an amazing toddler. As if she is not busy enough though, she is an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and with her free time is obsessed with hot yoga, SoulCycle, neo soul music, and oat banana pancakes!
